When Jay McGowan, an Open Door Sports (ODS) player with Down Syndrome, answered – for an ODS questionnaire - that his dream was to meet the Georgetown Hoyas’ basketball team, little did he know that a Collegiate Dream Team (CDT) from Dream On 3 would bring it to fruition. Starting with being surprised at his school on Friday, February 2nd, Jay was granted a magical dream weekend planned and executed by Georgetown University students.
After the initial surprise, he had a jam-packed schedule. First there was a quick stop at Boulangerie Christophe followed by a shopping spree at the Georgetown Bookstore to set him up with swag for the game. Then, at the basketball facility, he got to meet and shoot hoops with some of the Hoyas. After a dinner at Flavio Restaurant in Georgetown, Jay and the CDT went bowling at Pinstripes where Jay smoked everyone with a score of 100.
On Saturday, after meeting the team’s coaches, Jay and the CDT went to their courtside seats to watch warmups and then high five the players on their way out to the court. During the game, Jay and his family made it onto the Jumbotron multiple times. After the game, the crew went to Clyde’s for dinner, which worked well for Jay as he LOVES fries and ketchup.
Jay said that the weekend was so cool and that he loved Tori from Dream on 3 and the rest of the Collegiate Dream Team.
