Sarah Albus Receives the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition Community Leadership Award

Open Door Sports’s (ODS) Executive Director, Sarah Albus, has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition (PCSFN) 2024 Community Leadership Award.The award celebrates 20 leaders nationwide who are building more vibrant communities through sports, physical activity, fitness, and nutrition-related programs. They are leaders who are working to uplift their communities, contributing to the community’s overall well-being, and supporting all community members’ potential to thrive. Albus is the epitome of such a community leader. She coaches 6 days a week and, when there is a Changemaker Club event, is working 7 days a week; she is the brain child and driving force for the constant expansion of ODS, including the increase in number of programs and the addition of new sports offerings; she is the only full time employee, wearing innumerable hats; and, through all of her considerable efforts, she is significantly impacting the lives of nearly 500 children with disabilities and over 550 volunteer peer buddies each year. The Award was recognized at PCSFN’s 2024 Annual Council Meeting on September 6th.

Since 1956, the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition (PCSFN) has played an important role in educating people about the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating. The Council consists of athletes, physicians, fitness and nutrition professionals, and entrepreneurs who are appointed by the President and serve in an advisory capacity through the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
