Open Door Sports Inc. (ODS) was recently awarded $10,000 of grant funding from The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation to support their after-school adapted sports programs for children with disabilities in Montgomery County. The Cafritz Foundation works to improve the lives of DC area residents, with an emphasis on creating a more equitable region.
ODS is thrilled to receive this grant award and put it towards conducting inclusive, healthy, and fun sports programs free-of-charge for children with special needs and children from financially disadvantaged homes. “We are honored and grateful to receive this grant from The Cafritz Foundation and look forward to furthering our mission to serve underserved children in the DC area,” said Sarah Albus, ODS Executive Director.
At ODS, we see firsthand the need to provide an alternate vehicle for children who are unable to participate in standard after school sports programs due to either their ability or the cost. Support from The Cafritz Foundation will allow ODS to provide that vehicle and ensure that the programs meet the children where they are in their abilities and are free-of-charge, eliminating any financial barriers.
